The Cornerstone and Affordable Housing for Youth
In 2008 Youth Opportunities Unlimited began a program of affordable housing for youth at The Cornerstone located in downtown London at 332 Richmond Street. The three-storey heritage building is owned by YOU. The program is designed to meet the needs of at risk youth in our community. The upper two floors of the building house 14 bachelor apartments, 12 one-bedroom apartments and 2 two-bedroom apartments. Youth renting apartments benefit from very affordable rates. The affordable rents and the additional services to be housed in the building will lessen the pressures youth experience surrounding daily needs and enable youth to focus on building successful futures. These services will include health and nutrition, alternative education, mentoring and employment opportunities.

“ I was a participant of the Youth Action Centre for quite a few years. During that time the staff provided me with many services in my times of need. To this day I believe the Youth Action Centre truly helped me turn my life around. I hope that one day I can work in a similar environment helping people the way YAC helped me. ” - James
