Youth Opportunities Unlimited Can Help You Find a Job

We can also help you plan for a career and explore your education, training and apprenticeship options. Come to a workshop or meet with an Employment Counselor. We have training for Health and Safety, Service Excellence and Safe Food Handling. We offer paid training in woodworking, kitchen production, environmental recycling or retail services. If you are thinking about obtaining your high school diploma, we have our own GED preparation program. We can also help you land an apprenticeship in the trades. Job Search Resource Centre

At each of our friendly Job Search Resource Centres our staff will help you:

  • search for jobs
  • fill out applications
  • create, update or strengthen your resume
  • find current information about job postings, job fairs, new employers, education and careers
  • seek out housing listings, renter's rights and even how to apply for financial assistance

Plus there are workshops on resume writing, interview skills and apprenticeships and a fax and photocopier.

GED Preparation Program

Thinking about completing your secondary school? Come in for an official Ontario GED Pre-Test assessment to determine your exam-readiness and the upgrading you need towards your GED Certificate. This program offers many creative ways to help accelerate your GED preparation. The program has:

  • self-directed, web-based computer upgrading
  • daily 1:1 tutor support
  • subject specific lessons
  • a library of educational resource materials

Summer Jobs Programs

Summer Jobs Programs endeavor to create meaningful employment opportunities and provide training to youth with little or no experience. A first summer job is integral to the personal and professional development of every young person. Employers are able to increase their opportunities for training and employment through these programs.

Summer Jobs For Youth (SJFY) provides pre-employment workshops, health and safety orientation and job maintenance training. SJFY provides placements with a wage of $10.25/ hr paid directly to the youth employee by YOU.

Summer Job Service (SJS), also provides job search assistance, resume development, and job matching opportunities for students. A $2/hour wage subsidy is available to Employers.

YES (Youth Endeavouring for Success)

Not sure what to say about yourself in an interview? Learn how to create a dynamic resume with the YES program. These workshops allow you to earn the certificates and training you need to be competitive in today's job market. Workshops include Service Excellence, Health and Safety, Safe Food Handling and more.

Employment Counselling and Job Development

Meet with one of our Employment Counsellors and explorer options for the future. Our counsellors will help you decide on training you might need and provide you with resources and referrals to other services. They will help you deal positively with whatever barriers exist between you and career success.

Our Employment Counsellors also work alongside our Job Developers who will meet and work with you. A team will help and support you attaining the goals your created and ensuring you have all the support you need to excel.
